Crafting a way of life in the high country.

Sunalei's vision was born from a profound respect for nature and a desire to coexist with its majestic beauty. Inspired by the historic Great Camps, our community embodies a unique blend of rustic elegance and modern comfort. Each homesite, expansively set on large parcels of land, is a private sanctuary where residents live amidst the splendor of the Blue Ridge Mountains. At Sunalei, we believe that the best amenities are those crafted by Mother Nature herself. Our design philosophy centers on preserving the natural environment, ensuring that our community not only enjoys but also enhances the stunning vistas and superior elevations. From the rolling mountain peaks to the lush forests, every aspect of Sunalei has been thoughtfully planned to offer an unparalleled experience of mountain living. It's more than a place; it's a celebration of nature's beauty, a commitment to sustainable living, and a haven for those who find solace in the high country.

Living in Harmony with the Mountains

Sunalei, a serene mountain community, epitomizes conservation and harmony with nature in the majestic High Country. Over 300 acres, constituting more than a third of Sunalei, are dedicated to Conservancy or State Park Land, ensuring the preservation of its alpine beauty and ecological balance. This commitment extends beyond mere preservation to active stewardship of a diverse ecosystem. The area is home to globally imperiled natural communities, Southern Appalachian Bogs, high elevation seeps, and an abundant array of flora and fauna, including numerous species on the NCNHP Rare or Watch Lists. Sunalei's approach to development is mindful and intentional, with large natural homesites that allow for more of the community to retain its native habitat. This thoughtful planning contrasts sharply with conventional developments, where smaller, densely packed homesites often lead to the removal of significant portions of the ecosystem. By offering spacious, naturally integrated homesites, Sunalei not only provides a unique living experience but also plays a crucial role in preserving the region's natural heritage, making it a haven where both residents and nature thrive in unison.
